II . o( <br /> NEW <br /> I3RIGH`1UN <br /> the city that works for you <br /> Council Worksession <br /> January 24, 2012 <br /> Present: Mayor Dave Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br /> Absent: Councilmember Gina Bauman <br /> Staff in Attendance: <br /> City Manager Dean Lotter <br /> Others in Attendance: <br /> The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM. <br /> Commission Discussion: <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg stated that she would like to see the City Commission meetings, specifically the <br /> Parks & Recreation Commission meetings, televised and accessible to the public. She also requested that the <br /> City Council discuss term limits for commission members. Councilmember Char Samuelson and <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen concured with Councilmember Burg's recommendation. City Manager Dean <br /> Lotter provided the Council with a brief explanation of the City's IT Staffs video responsibilities in televising <br /> the meetings to the public. Council discussed the priorities of the various commissioners and which <br /> commission meetings should be televised. <br /> City Manager Lotter reminded the City Council that ultimately it is their decision whether a commission <br /> meeting is televised or not. <br /> Councilmember Char Samuelson suggested that the respective commissions submit their suggestions to the City <br /> Council regarding whether or not the commission meetings are televised. <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg recommended that commission meetings to be televised so the public can view the <br /> meetings from their home. <br /> City Manager Lotter suggested that all City Council worksession meetings be recorded and that the audio of the <br /> meeting be posted on the City's website unless directed by the City Council to do otherwise. Members of the <br /> City Council concurred with City Manager Lotter's recommendation. <br /> City Manager Lotter provided the City Council with information regarding how absenteeism of commission <br /> members has been handled in the past. <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen recommended that the City have a code of conduct for future Commission <br /> members. City Manager Lotter concurred with Councilmember Jacobsen recommendation that commissioners, <br /> once appointed to a commission, should be responsible for their actions and be professional in their demeanor <br /> 1 <br />
