Of Report Number 12-061 <br /> N ' Agenda Section VI-4 <br /> BRIG-TON Council Meeting Date March 13,2012 <br /> the city that works for you <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND <br /> AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CITY PROJECT 12-5,HIGH SERVICE <br /> AND FORESTDALE WATER TOWER PAINTING. <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: CAM/ <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: To approve the pl 6 nd specifications and authorize staff to advertise for bids for <br /> City Project 12-5, High Service and Forestdale Water Tower Painting. <br /> Legislative History: The 150,000 gallon High Service Water Tower is located next to the PGAC Plant. <br /> The purpose of this tower is to provide higher pressure for the areas around Wexford Heights, Seminary <br /> Estates, and other nearby streets. This tower was built in 1992. <br /> The 300,000 gallon Forestdale Water Tower is located in the northwest corner of Silver Lake Road and <br /> Forestdale Road. This tower was built in 1955. The last maintenance was a complete interior and <br /> exterior blast and repainting in 2001. <br /> The project schedule is as follows: <br /> February 28, 2012 Work Session with Council <br /> March 13, 2012 Council to approves project and authorizes advertisement for bids <br /> April 24, 2012 Award Project to lowest responsible bidder <br /> May or August 2012 Notice to Proceed <br /> July or October 2012 Project Complete <br /> Financial Impact: The project budget based on a preliminary estimate is as follows: <br /> High Service Tower: $250,000 <br /> Forestdale Tower: $50,000 <br /> Total: $300,000 [Includes Consultant Fees and In-House Engineering] <br /> Explanation: The purpose of this item is to advance the project to the next step which is to publicly <br /> advertise for bids. Bids are tentatively scheduled to be opened in mid-April with construction to begin in <br /> May or August depending on which construction schedule is approved when the Council Awards the <br /> Bid. <br /> Costs and Funding: The Water Improvement Fund has $300,000 budgeted for this work.
