( Report Number 12-067 <br /> NH Agenda Section VI-2 <br /> Council Meeting Date March 27,2012 <br /> BRIGHTON <br /> the city that works for you <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDERATION OF FINAL PAYMENT, PARTIAL PAYMENT 3, <br /> TO DEMOLISH 901 11TH AVENUE NW (HOUSE) AND 150 1sT AVENUE SE (VERMONT <br /> PARK SHELTER) <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this report _ Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: To approve Final Payment, Partial Payment 3 to demolish 901 11th Avenue NW(House) <br /> and 150 1st Avenue SE (Vermont Park Shelter) in the amount of$7,550 to Foster Trucking and Excavating. <br /> Legislative History: <br /> House: At the April 12, 2011 City Council Meeting, the City Council authorized the City Manager to <br /> negotiate a Purchase Agreement with 901 1 1th Avenue NW. The Public Safety Department used the <br /> property in early July for training and the structure was demolished in July/August of 2011. <br /> Vermont Park Shelter: At the February 2, 2011 PREC Meeting, staff informed the commission of the <br /> possibility of demolishing the shelter. PREC was in support of this action. However, the City <br /> Council decided to suspend the demolition for the 2011 construction season. At the January 4, 2012 <br /> PREC Meeting, the PREC again recommended that the shelter be demolished. During a work session <br /> with the City Council on February 14, 2012, the City Council recommended to staff that the shelter be <br /> removed as soon as possible. The shelter was demolished the week of March 10 to March 17, 2012. <br /> Financial Impact: Please see attached payment breakdown for details. <br /> Explanation: All contract work with Foster Trucking and Excavating to demolish 901 l lth Avenue NW <br /> (House) and 150 1st Avenue SE (Vermont Park Shelter)has been completed and accepted by City staff. This <br /> payment includes payment on all contract final quantities associated with the project(including extra costs to <br /> haul contaminated concrete to a special dump site in Becker). Additionally the Council agreed to cover the <br /> Vermont Shelter permit fees to maintain the contractor's original quote. <br /> Costs and Funding: <br /> House: The total cost of this project will be funded from Municipal State Aid(MSA) funding as part of <br /> City Project 11-1, 2011 Street Rehabilitation Project. <br /> Vermont Park Shelter: The total cost of this project will be funded from Fund 403-40000, Park <br /> Improvement Fund. <br /> //) <br /> Grant M. yffels, P E.
