NIA city of 44INEW H ON the city that works for you Council Worksession March 13, 2012 Present: Mayor Dave Jacobsen Councilmember Char Samuelson Councilmember Mary Burg Councilmember Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Gina Bauman Absent: None Staff in Attendance: Assistant to the City Manager Schawn Johnson Director of Community Development Grant Fernelius City Planner Janice Gundlach Others in Attendance: Attorney Peter Mikhail, Kennedy & Graven The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM. Update on Status of Clearwire Legal Issue Regarding Tower in Freedom Park Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 13D, the meeting was closed to discuss attorney-client information regarding the legal matte involving the Clearwire Tower located in Freedom Park. A motion was made by Councilmember Char Samuelson and seconded by Councilmember Gina Bauman to move the meeting into a closed session. The motion was approved by the City Council 5-0. A motion was made by Councilmember Mary Burg and seconded by Councilmember Gina Bauman to open the meeting at 6:25 pm. The motion was approved by the City Council 5-0. Review Applications and Select Advisory Commission Applicants to be Interview City Council asked City staff to review the possibility of eliminating the Civil Service Commission. City staff will report back to the City Council regarding this matter. City Council directed staff to send a letter to Commission Member James Alvey informing him that he will not be reappointed to serve on the Planning Commission. Mr. Alvey may serve on one of the other commissions if desired. City Council asked staff to schedule interviews with the four candidates at the March 27th work session meeting that have submitted applications to serve on the City's advisory commissions.
