HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br /> MANAGER'S REVIEW/RECOMMENDATION• <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> Explanation. Non-tax revenues such as customer fees provide a majority of financing for City services. <br /> Customer fees are used in situations where an individual receives a special service benefit. The fee amount is <br /> determined by local need and consideration of the service costs. Annually, the fee register is reviewed to ensure <br /> its appropriateness. <br /> New Brighton's fee register consists of eight sections: <br /> 1998 Budget <br /> Environmental Licenses $50,000 <br /> Construction Licenses $11,000 <br /> Planning Fees $5,000 <br /> Building Fees $127,000 <br /> Police $2,500 <br /> Liquor Licenses $39,000 <br /> Administrative Rates-General $5,000 <br /> Recreation Program $303,000 <br /> Golf/Driving Range $420,500 <br /> Forestry $45,000 <br /> Family Service Center $516.000 <br /> $1,524,000 <br /> In a related matter,the fees for the Utilities will be presented to the Council for approval in April, 1998. These fees would <br /> take effective in May, 1998. <br /> Last,the Manager's Office will be considering general overhead rates, especially as they apply to Recreation Program <br /> Fees. The results of this effort will be presented to the Council at a later date. <br /> Recommendation.
