•
ITEM 2 - PROJECT NARRATIVE
•
The Project Narrative should include a general descriptive overview of what the project
involves and what will be accomplished by the completion of the project. Please limit your
narrative to one page.
This project is the development of a system of trails, walks and observation stations in a marsh
area adjacent to a 70,000 square foot Family Service Center recently built by the City of New
Brighton and Mounds View District#621. The City owns the property on which the nature trail
would be located.
The project would include approximately 1,325 linear ft. of asphalt trail, 800 linear ft. Of
boardwalk, two wooden bridges and two observation stations and the introduction of additional
native plant materials.
The project is located across the street from a small office park and a senior citizen housing
facility, one block from an elementary school and is located on the Family Service Center site
which is anticipated to service approximately 300,000 persons annually. The Family Service
Center is a cooperative venture between the City of New Brighton and School District 621. The
building houses the New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department, District 621 Early
Childhood and Family Education Program. The WIC program and Northwest Youth and Family
Services. All of the facilities in the Family Service Center are designed for indoor activities and
the nature area walk would be an exciting compliment to the indoor facilities.
•
