However,to
ensure that participants have sufficient background on the issue(s), tours should be coordinated with the City
Manager, staff liaison, or City Council member.
• Program participants will get all public information that goes to the City Council during the month. This
will include agendas and supportive staff reports. They will also be formally invited to all meetings and
events in which the Council gets involved.
• At the Council Meetings, the Council Member of the Month will be expected to follow normal protocol,
including being recognized by the Mayor prior to speaking.
• The Council Members of the Month shall handle themselves professionally whenever discussing municipal
issues with the public, recognizing they are not elected officials and do not represent the City in any official
capacity.
• The Council Members of the Month shall occupy a seat at the council table for the council meetings only. At
any other meetings, i.e., advisory commissions, etc. they may sit at the staff table or in the audience, except
as invited by the chair of the meeting being attended.
• Council Members of the Month shall be requested to complete an evaluation form at the end of their
participation, specifically for the purpose of getting feedback on how the program might be improved to
better serve its purpose.
•
I:ISHARE D\COUNCIL RE PO RTS119961C MM GUIDE.W PD
