Commission Minutes <br />Mayor Jacobsen received the following minutes on behalf of the City: <br />• Public Safety Commission minutes from February 27, 2012. <br />• EDC Minutes from Febmary2l, 2012. <br />• Planning commission Minutes from January 17, 2012. <br />Special Order of Business <br />1. Twin Cities Gateway — Presentation bySteve Markuson <br />April 24, 2012 Page 2 of 1 I <br />Commission Minutes <br />Steve Markuson; Executive Director ofTwin Cities Gateway reported that tourism in Minnesota generates <br />about $33,000,000 a day, employing 235,000 residents. Ramsey County is responsible for about 10% of the <br />states overall tourism economy. Mr. Markusonreported that Twin City Gateway stared in January 2010, <br />noting New Brighton joined mid -year 2010. It was reported that the Board ofDirectors is comprised of <br />members from each ofthe rune member cities. New Brighton will be getting an additional board seat, due to <br />the lodging taxes generated in 2011. This representative will be fiom the Hilton Homewood Suites Hotel. <br />Mr. Markuson reported that the site includes items such as advertising for lodging banqueNineeting fatalities, <br />and special events promotion. <br />2. Recognition of Pants, Recreation & Environmental Commissioner Tom Trevonow. <br />Director of Parks & Recreation Sandy Breuer introduced Tom Trevonow, who has served on the Parks, <br />Recreation & Environmental commission since 1992. It was reported that W. Trevorrow was instrumental <br />in establishing soccer fields throughout the City, as well as being involved in annual Arbor Day events and <br />'tree sales. <br />Mayor Jacobsen presented aplaque of appreciation to Commissioner Trevonow. Mr. Trevorrow expressed <br />his gratitude to the City and suggested that the City consider investing in aForester in order to preserve the <br />City's vision. <br />3. Ellen Stanslasld Proclamation. Report No. 12-085. <br />Mayor Jacobsen read a pnxlarnation proclaiming April 25, 2012 as Ellen Stanslaski Day. <br />Motion by Councrilmember Bauman, seconded by Councilmernber Samuelson to approve the <br />proclamation as read <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />4. 2011 Information Technology Year in Review Presentation. <br />Andre Barte,1T Administrator gave an overview ofthe recant activities ofthe IT Department Some ofthe <br />2011 accomplislunents included: <br />' • Replacing the fiber connection between City Hall and the Community Center. <br />• Class Software upgrade (NBCC) By pei%nning this in-house; a substantial savings was obtained. <br />• Network was operational 99.33%. <br />Installation of security cameras at City Hall. <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br />1.
