May 8, 2012 Page 6 oV <br />Lotter stated that the 2011 finance numbers will be available soon, and at that time council can <br />determine what to do with the surplus, noting council can watch the revenue and expense <br />trends, and reallocate funds if necessary. Councilmember Jacobsen applauded staff for <br />implementing a cash plan. <br />Councilmember Bauman suggested paying off the Public Safety Center early to free up funds. <br />Manager Lotter stated that often structured debt plans have early call date limitations. It was <br />noted that we recently refinanced with a very good rates; with the agreement that we were to <br />pay over a number of years. <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Samuelson to adopt the resolution <br />amending the long term financial plan for the Capital Asset Replacement Plans. <br />4 Ayes,1 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Ayes: Mayor Jacobsen, Councilmembers Burg, Samuelson and Jacobsen <br />Nays: Councilmember Bauman <br />Commission Liaison Reports Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported that the May 22nd work session will include a New Brighton <br />Exchange financial update. In early June the 2011 audit will be reviewed. A tour of the <br />'Granite Falls apartments will be in late June. <br />The Public Safety Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was well attended. Manager Lotter reported <br />that Northwest Youth & Family Services raised about $27,000 at their recent fundraising <br />luncheon. <br />A national television program, Today in America, asked Manager Lotter for a chance to talk <br />with him and the Mayor regarding New Brighton. <br />An engineer from MNDOT will be attending the management meeting on May 9t to give an <br />update on the 694 Improvement Project. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported that she attended a cable commission meeting, and noted she <br />will announce the scholarship winners at the next council meeting. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported that she attended the Public Safety Volunteer Appreciation <br />Dinner, and expressed her gratitude to the community volunteers. The EDC will next meet <br />May 15th at 7:30 am. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson attended the Public Safety Commission meeting on April 30`h. <br />Katie England from the Ramsey County Tobacco coalition gave a prsentation. The commission <br />next meets June 25, 2012. National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday August 7`h.
