Jacobson, Director of Public Safety /�r <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Approve the Letter of Agreement between the MN Department of Public Safety, Division of <br /> Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the City of New Brighton <br /> Legislative History: <br /> The City of New Brighton first entered into an agreement with the MN Dept. of Public Safety for <br /> these same services in July of 2004. <br /> Financial Impact: <br /> New Brighton has rec'd in excess of$150,000 of equipment and upgraded technology during the <br /> duration of this previous Agreement. <br /> Explanation: <br /> The City of New Brighton and the MN Dept. of Public Safety have enjoyed an excellent and <br /> long standing relationship. This includes the use of City facilities to include the Public Safety <br /> Center as the State of MN Alternate Emergency Operations Center (ASEOC) and City Hall as <br /> the Alternate Joint Information Center. The Emergency Operations Center has been opened up <br /> for use on one occasion by the State of MN for a period of about three weeks in September of <br /> 2005 during the response to the dual hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region. <br /> The MN Dept. of Public Safety is requesting a reaffirmation and approval of this continuing <br /> relationship <br /> Robert J.
