t <br /> lhecitylhat works for you PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS Edward Schneider, a lifetime resident of the community of New <br /> Brighton, joined the New Brighton Fire Department on February 12, <br /> 1979; and <br /> WHEREAS During the course of his 32 years of service for the New Brighton Fire <br /> Division, Edward served as an on-call firefighter, Fire Captain, <br /> Training Officer, Hazardous Materials Technician, Relief Association <br /> Trustee, First Aid & CPR instructor, Community Emergency Response <br /> Team (CERT) instructor, and unofficial department historian, in which <br /> role he authored the Department's 501h Anniversary book;and <br /> WHEREAS After his lengthy career, Edward leaves the Department having <br /> responded to countless calls for service, including participating in <br /> significant New Brighton fires and rescues, namely the tornadoes in '84, <br /> the Williams Pipeline explosion in '86, the plane crash in '87; and the <br /> storm of 2005;and <br /> WHEREAS During the course of his32 years of service, Edward participated in the <br /> Department's significant growth, including as a member of three fire <br /> apparatus committees, providing instruction to new firefighters in <br /> Ramsey County, being recognized as the 2002 Firefighter of the Year, <br /> and overseeing the construction of the new Public Safety Center itself; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS Edward now leaves the Fire Department to dedicate more time to his <br /> family, serve as a Disaster Assistance Employee for the Federal <br /> Emergency Management Agency(FEMA), and pursue other interests; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, in recognition of his 32 years of service to the <br /> citizens of New Brighton and the special camaraderie he has with his fellow firefighters, we <br /> offer our sincerest congratulations to <br /> ED WARD L. SCHNEIDER <br /> and extend our heartfelt thanks, and our fondest wishes for a happy, and healthy, <br /> retirement. <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br /> hand and caused the Seal of the City of New <br /> Brighton, Minnesota to be affixed this 15th day <br /> of August, 2012. <br /> David Jacobsen-Mayor <br />
