In partnership with CTV an episode <br /> of Public Safety Spotlight featuring New Brighton Firefighters Matt Farmer and Ashley Farmer <br /> discussing the dangers of firefighting was submitted to the Alliance for Community Media for <br /> consideration of a Hometown Media Award. The Hometown Media Awards honor and promote <br /> community media and local cable programs that are distributed on access cable television <br /> channels. Awards are presented to creative programs that address community needs, develop <br /> diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and <br /> move viewers to experience television in a different way. The Hometown Media Awards is local <br /> cable's largest video awards competition and has been compared to the local cable version of <br /> winning an"Emmy Award". <br /> Despite over 1,000 entries Public Safety Spotlight was chosen as the 2012 Hometown Media <br /> Award Winner in the Government-Non Professional Category.
