RESOLUTION NO. <br />12-077 <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SECURITY UPGRADES AT THE PUBLIC <br />WORKS GARAGE AT 700 5TH STREET NW. <br />WHEREAS, Workplace safety and security is a priority of management. An internal multi- <br />departmental meeting to discuss overall Public Works Garage security and employee safety occurred <br />on March 23, 2012 at 1:30pm at the Public Works Garage located at 700 5h Street NW; and, <br />WHEREAS, As a result of this meeting, several key ideas were proposed. First, we want to close <br />this facility to the public. Going forward, it is proposed to keep the main entry vehicle gate always <br />closed to unauthorized personnel and install security cameras to monitor the key access points to the <br />facility. Second, It is proposed to close the main entry PW building doors to solicitors, vendors, and <br />the general public by installing access card readers on all 6 access doors to the facility. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of New Brighton: <br />The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to implement security upgrades at the Public <br />Works Garage in an amount not to exceed $44,000. <br />2. The responsibility for the security improvements lies with the General Fund. Public Works <br />Garage Department for $34,878 and the IT Internal Service Fund for $8,584, totaling $43,462. <br />There are no appropriations for these security improvements in the 2012 Budget for the General <br />Fund Public Works Garage Department. The result will be deficit spending for the General <br />Fund. The IT fund has this amount budgeted as part of scheduled capital replacements. <br />4. The 2012 General Fund Budget is amended as follows: <br />Increase: Garage 101-46134-6200, $35,000 <br />Adopted this 9"' day of October, 2012 <br />_ ATTEST: <br />Daniel' A.
