The following memo <br /> provides background information for the City Council regarding the City's current health <br /> insurance plan and what are some of the complexities of providing health insurance <br /> coverage to councilmembers and part-time staff members. <br /> Background Information: <br /> In 2012, the City of New Brighton offers its full-time employees five different health <br /> insurance plan options: <br /> 1. $0 Co-Pay Plan <br /> 2. $40.00 Co-Pay Plan <br /> 3. HDHP/Health Savings Account Plan ($1,200/$2,400 Deductible) <br /> 4. HDHP/Health Savings Account(Plan$2,500/$5,000 Deductible) <br /> 5. Opt-Out Plan Option-Employees that decline health care coverage through the <br /> City receive$325 (taxable income)per month.The employee is required to <br /> provide proof of health insurance by completing the Health Waiver Form. <br /> For 2012, the City of New Brighton offers its employees a cafeteria style health insurance <br /> program where the City contributes a set dollar amounts per month to assist employees <br /> with health insurance expenditures.
