• Civil Service Commission-The Civil Service Commission is a 3 member citizen <br /> committee that meets at least once a year to consider hiring and promotion of police <br /> officers. It also serves on an as-needed basis for hearings on disciplinary actions. <br /> For more information or to obtain an application please call(651) 638-2100 or visit the City's <br /> website at www.newbrightommm.gov <br /> AGENDA- <br /> Items under consideration by the various commissions are outlined in a formal agenda. Agendas <br /> for commission meetings are available at the New Brighton City Hall or via the City's webpage <br /> at www.newbrightonmn.gov. <br /> • Public Hearing-Hearings are held to provide public input to City Council and assist the <br /> commission members in making a recommendation to the City Council on an issue. <br /> Public hearings are held on actions such as zoning, development, and assessments. <br /> Public notice is given in the City's official newspaper. <br /> MINUTES- <br /> The minutes serve as the official record of the actions taken at commission meetings. The <br /> minutes contain summary of the decisions made by the commissions. Official copies are <br /> available at the New Brighton City Hall and on the City's webpage at www.newbrightonmn.gov <br /> PUBLIC MEETING CONDUCT- <br /> The City encourages good faith input from its citizen's at all council meetings and desires to <br /> provide an environment based on respect and civility. In order to do so,the City of New <br /> Brighton commissions have established the following Standards of Conduct at Public Meetings <br /> based on the norms of acceptable and courteous business behavior. <br /> 1. Members of the audience wishing to address the public body shall first secure the <br /> permission of the commission chair. <br /> 2. When commenting,please be courteous,brief, constructive and nonrepetitive. <br /> 3. Members of the audience will refrain from disruptive actions such as hand clapping, <br /> stamping of feet, whistling, cheering, yelling or similar demonstrations, which conduct <br /> disturbs the peace and good order of the meeting and which conduct might have an <br /> intimidating effect upon members of opposing viewpoints. <br /> 4. Persons addressing the public body shall also refrain from slurs against race, creed, color, <br /> religion,national origin, gender, sexual or affectional orientation,marital status, familial <br /> status, age, disability, or status with regard to public assistance. <br /> 5. Profanity, slander, false statements, violence, or the threat of violence in any form shall <br /> not be tolerated. <br /> 2 <br />
