Council Business <br />None. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />October 9, 2012 Page 5 of 6 <br />Council Business <br />Schawn Johnson <br />Assistant to the City Manager Schawn Johnson reported the City Hall parking lot work was <br />going well and should be complete in the next week or two. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the North Suburban Cable Committee met and continues to <br />discuss the franchise agreement. She further discussed the benefits of the cable franchise <br />agreement with Comcast. She explained the City was entitled to 100 free hours of public <br />programming through the current contract. She noted XFinity had a ribbon cutting ceremony <br />on Friday morning. <br />Mary Buri <br />Councilmember Burg reported there was no EDC meeting in the past two weeks. She <br />indicated the next meeting would be held on October 16th at 7:30 a.m. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson reported the Open House for the Fire Department would be held <br />on October 22nd at 6:00 p.m. She stated the Public Safety Commission would meet on October <br />30tH <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the PREC Commission met last Wednesday. He reviewed <br />the items discussed in detail stating Heidi Sedlacek gave a presentation on local park services. <br />The Read to Play program was highlighted along with the benefits to community children. He <br />explained that this program would be discussed at the National League of Cities Conference in <br />Boston, MA this year. Councilmember Jacobsen stated on October 13th the playground <br />equipment from Hansen Park would be removed and replaced. He encouraged all those <br />willing and able to volunteer to show up Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to <br />assist. The holiday boutique will be held on October 11th through October 20th from 9:30 a.m. <br />to 8:30 p.m. It was noted there were still several open seats on the PREC Commission. Those <br />interested in serving are encouraged to contact City Hall for further information. <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported he has seen an increase in calls and emails recently. He will continue <br />to work to respond to each message.
