She <br /> indicated the Cable Commission met recently and continue to negotiate the franchise <br /> agreements. She anticipated there would be a rate adjustment for cable services in 2013. She <br /> explained other changes to Xfinity cable programming could be found at <br /> www.xfinitytv.com\contractrenewals. Councilmember Bauman indicated the public alert <br /> system may change to cell phone warnings for amber alerts, severe weather and other <br /> important messages. This would be available through special apps. She wished everyone a <br /> Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. <br /> Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Burg reported the EDC would be meeting next Tuesday, December 18th at <br /> 7:30 a.m. at City Hall. She was excited to see the activity at the New Brighton Exchange. She <br /> then thanked the Council for the compromise that was reached this evening for the 2013 <br /> budget. She then wished everyone Happy Holidays. <br /> Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Samuelson reported she recently attended the National League of Cities <br /> Conference in Boston. She discussed the sessions she attended noting this was valuable <br /> training. She explained several Staff members were recognized nationally for the Read 2 Play <br /> program. Parks and Recreation Director Breuer discussed the program in detail with the <br /> Council stating the program has had great success in the City and the growth continues. She <br /> stated Staff would be seeking additional partners to continue improving this program. <br /> Councilmember Samuelson noted the next Public Safety Meeting was scheduled for January <br /> 28, 2013 and would be held in the Public Safety Center. She noted Santa Cop was still seeking <br /> donations. Those able to assist could contact City Hall for additional information on this <br /> program. She encouraged everyone to drive safely and enjoy the holidays. <br /> Paul Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Park and Recreation did not meet in December. The <br /> next meeting was scheduled for January 2, 2013 at the Community Center. He noted the Park <br /> and Recreation Commission was still seeking volunteers at this time.
