The VIPS have done 5 of these events; most recently at the New <br /> Brighton Fire Department Open House last Monday. <br /> The next blood drive is scheduled for next Monday,November 5th. <br /> Bike helmets were also sold at the New Brighton Fire Department Open House. <br /> D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> Deputy Director Tony Paetznick and Fire Captain/Police Officer Trevor Hamdorf are on call as <br /> part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact(EMAC)to respond to the east coast <br /> for storm recovery. There is a 50/50 chance they will be deployed. There is a team from <br /> Minnesota already set up there. <br /> We will be assigning one police officer to the Ramsey County Violent Crime Enforcement Team <br /> (VCET) to assist with gang, drug and violent crime enforcement starting on January 1st. This is <br /> not an additional officer; we are taking an officer from patrol and reassigning them to the <br /> VCCET. We are asking for this assignment due to an increase in drug related activity. <br /> We are taking donations and applications for the Santa Cop program. We expect another busy <br /> year. Officer McNeely will be in charge of the Santa Cop program again this year. <br /> Officer Ted Layton and Officer/Fire Captain Brad Krebsbach did a great job with the "Cop on <br /> Top" fundraiser at Cub Foods. They raised over $2200. <br /> We will also be "ringing the bell" again for the Salvation Army in December. <br /> We had three more marathons run with Deputy Director Tony Paetznick, Fire Fighter Chris <br /> Rother and Fire Fighter Matt Farmer running Twin Cities Marathon on October 7th. This brings <br /> our department marathon total to 105! <br /> If anyone wants to participate in a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon event, the White Bear Lake VFW <br /> is having a"Build a Burger for the Troops" event on November 12th from 5 to 8 pm. <br /> Council Liaison <br /> A. Council Report <br /> Council Member Samuelson reported a community survey will be coming by either phone or <br /> mail. <br /> Council and City staff continues to work on the budget. <br /> Old Business <br /> No old business. <br />
