Updates from Chairperson's of Advisory Commissions. <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br />a. Parks, Recreation & Environmental Commission. Report No.13 -001. <br />1 • Lwates from <br />Chaupe son's of Advisay <br />City Manager Lotter stated Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission Chair Frischman was present <br />Canunissions a. Comm. <br />to give an annual report to the Council. <br />Report No. 13-001, <br />Jeanne Frischman, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission, thanked the Council for <br />their time this evening. She then reviewed the members currently serving on the PREC. She noted there <br />were three vacancies on the Commission at this time and encouraged those interested in serving to apply at <br />City Hall. Chair Frischman discussed the roles and responsibilities of the group. She discussed an award the <br />group received for the collaboration efforts between the PREC and the Ramsey County Library. She <br />encouraged the public to attend their monthly meetings noting the group met on the first Wednesday of the <br />month at 6:30 pm. at the Community Center. Chair Frischman provided a 2012 year in review and noted the <br />demolition of the Vermont Park Shelter and the replacement of the playground equipment at Hansen Park. <br />She recognized Chris Wolla for his efforts in getting this playground equipment removed and replaced. She <br />noted the Community Center saw an increase of 95,000 visits in 2012, which was due to the Rantisey County <br />Library. She then thanked the Council and City Staff for their continued support and noted the many benefits <br />provided to the community. Chair Fnsclmlan then discussed the projects proposed for 2013. <br />Councilmember Samuelson thanked Chair Frischman for her presentation this evening and for her efforts on <br />behalf of the community. <br />Councilmember Burg agreed and commended the PREC for the volunteers obtained to assist in replacing the <br />playground equipment at Hansen Park. She thanked Chair Frischman for her leadership on the PREC. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated the PREC has done a tremendous job representing the needs of New <br />Brighton. He thanked Chair Frischman for partnering so well with staffmembers. <br />Councilmember Bauman was pleased that the PREC meetings were now web streamed as it made the group <br />more accessible to the community. <br />Mayor Jacobsen thanked Chair Frischman for her dedication and service to the community. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
