<br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-019 <br /> <br />I <br />~ I <br />I <br />i <br />i <br />,"i <br />! <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING REAPPOINTMENT OF JOHN C. JOHNSON AS DISTRICT A CITIZEN <br />MEMBER OF THE TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson has served on the Transportation advisory Board as the District A Citizen <br />Representative for the past eight years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson was recently appointed Chair of the Transportation Advisory Board Policy <br />Committee, a position he has held for over three years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson's professional background includes 30 years in urban planning; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson was the Community Development and Public Works Director for the city of <br />Mounds View in the early 1980's; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson has served on the Brooklyn Park Planning Commission for over 14 years, and <br />was its vice chair for 10 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson helped organize and currently chairs the North Metro Crossing Coalition. as <br />a grass roots effort of 21 communities to raise the level of awareness for the need of transportation projects <br />.. in the North Metro area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson is working very effectively with the Metropolitan Council and the Transportation <br />Advisory Board as it strives to meet the goals outlined in Regional Blueprint; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson has supported and strengthened the multi.modal aspects of the comprehensive, <br />continuing and cooperative transportation planning process in the metropolitan area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, his duties as District A Citizen Representative, John C. Johnson has dedicated significant <br />amounts of personal time to working closely with all levels of local governments (mayors, city councils, city <br />staff) and other regional organizations (chambers and associations) to keep them informed of transportation <br />issues; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John C. Johnson has offered many hours of his time to making presentations regarding <br />transportation funding and the needs of the northwest metro area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAs,.the North Metro Mayors Association is comprised of the following cities: <br /> <br />Anoka <br />Brooklyn Park <br />Columbia Heights <br />Dayton <br />Mounds View <br /> <br />Oak Grove <br />Spring Lake Park <br />Blaine <br />Champlin <br />Coon Rapids <br /> <br />Maple Grove <br />New Brighton <br />Ramsey <br />Brooklyn Center <br />Circle Pines <br /> <br />Crystal <br />Minneapolis <br />New Hope <br />Robbinsdale <br /> <br />Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the North Metro Mayors Association enthusiastically supports the <br />reappointment of John C.
