Special Order of Business 1. Presentation of LifesavingAwards. R No. 13-067. Suedes Order of Report Business 1. Presentation of Director ofPublic Safety Jacobson stated it was an honor to come before the Council this evening to present Lifesaving Awards.Report No.13-067. lifesaving awards to members of the New Brighton Public Safety Department from the events that took place on February 2,2013. He invited all Public Safety Personnel in attendance to come forward at this time. He explained the Public Safety Department has had a long history of saving lives in New Brighton due to the great partnership between the department and Allina Medical. He then discussed the events that took place on February 2nd in detail and stated the measures taken by the First Responders brought a 20 year old female in New Brighton back to life. Dr.Charlie Lick,Allina Medical,commented he was honored to be present at this celebration this evening. He indicated sudden cardiac arrest affected 300,000 each year. He explained that Allina has been an active participant in the Take Heart Initiative,which has encouraged citizens and local business owners to begin CPR and call 911 in heart related emergencies. He commended the City of New Brighton on becoming the first community in Minnesota to be named a Heart Safe Community. Director of Public Safety Jacobson recognized Office Kevin Olson,Officer Aaron Slack,Officer Kathy McNeely,Officer/Fire Captain Brad Krebsbach,Fire Captain Jay Frischman,Firefighter/Police Reserve Office Charlie Prasek,PSO/Reserve Officer Derek Livingston,Mounds View Police Officer Darrell Meyer, Allina Paramedic Steve Plautz,Allina Intern Forest Welsch,and family members Tannie Eshenauer,Wally Eshenauer and Pete Eshenaur with a Life Saving Award for their life saving measures taken on February 2, 2013. A round of applause was offered by all those in attendance. Hannah Eshenauer thanked the City for working to become a Heart Safe Community as it saved her life. Tannie Eshenauer,Hannah's mother,commented she was proud to be a citizen of New Brighton and was very thankful for the City's Public Safety Department.
