1$ City 01 Report Number 13-085 <br /> NEW Agenda Section VII-1 <br /> le BRIG' JTI N Council Meeting Date April 9,2013 <br /> the city that works for you <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT HEARING FOR PROJECT 13-1,2013 <br /> STREET REHABILITATION. <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: (y..i,J <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this repo Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: <br /> 1) To hold a Public Improvement Hearing on proposed Project 13-1,2013 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> 2) To adopt the Resolution ordering Project 13-1, 2013 Street Rehabilitation as proposed in the Feasibility <br /> Study, authorize staff to proceed with the preparation of the plans and specifications and designate the <br /> City Engineer as the engineer for this improvement. <br /> Legislative History: The City Council adopted a Comprehensive Street Plan in 1982 creating a means by which <br /> to improve and maintain high quality streets and alleys within the City. The streets considered for rehabilitation <br /> in 2013 were originally identified by City staff as needing replacement in 2012 based on their age and pavement <br /> condition. <br /> On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, an informational meeting was held with residents to be affected by this <br /> proposed project. Most residents present at the meeting were in favor of the project. Information about this <br /> meeting is included in the Feasibility Study. At the March 12, 2013, council meeting the City Council accepted <br /> the Feasibility Study for Project 13-1 and set the Public Improvement Hearing for April 9,2013. <br /> Notices of the Public Improvement Hearing were mailed to property owners to be affected by this proposed street <br /> reconstruction project, and published in the local newspaper as required by law. <br /> Financial Impact: The total estimated project cost is $1,436,400. The Feasibility Study contains cost estimates <br /> and recommended funding. <br /> Explanation: The purpose of this item is to hold the Public Improvement Hearing for proposed Project 13-1, <br /> 2013 Street Rehabilitation. A presentation of the Feasibility Study will be made by staff prior to the opening of <br /> the Public Improvement Hearing. <br /> If the Council approves the project at the Public Improvement Hearing, staff will prepare plans and specifications <br /> based on the input received at the improvement hearing and previously collected information. <br /> Costs and Funding: This project, if approved, would be funded from a combination of City of New Brighton <br /> general taxes,municipal state aid funds, special assessments, and utility improvement funds. <br /> 74^') <br /> Grant M.'Wyffel ,P.E. <br /> Director of Public Works <br /> Attachments <br /> Resolution <br />
