May 14, 2013 Page 5 of 5 <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen seconded by Councilmember Samuelson to direct Staff to <br />pursue a crossing of Old Highway 8 near the Dairy Queen. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman commented the Cable Commission met recently and contract <br />negotiations continue. She noted the rates were also discussed along with the DTA fees. She <br />proudly announced that four New Brighton students were awarded scholarships this year. She <br />noted the Public Safety Commission would meet again on Monday, June 24th where DUI <br />enforcement would be discussed. It was noted the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner would be <br />held on Sunday, May 19th at 5:00 p.m. She noted this week was Police Memorial Week and <br />the Public Safety Department would be participating in a memorial service on Thursday in <br />Roseville. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission would meet again on Tuesday, May <br />21, 2013. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson reported the Park and Recreation held a Public Forum at their last <br />meeting to discuss parks. She indicated the conversation at the forum centered around ball <br />fields along with lighting. She noted Dairy Queen would be donating 10% of all purchases <br />made on May 23`d, June 27th, July 25th, and August 22nd, and September 26th to a scholarship <br />fund. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC would be meeting on May 22nd at 7:00 a.m. <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported he attended the Minnesota Mayors Conference in Moorhead this <br />year. He noted the Chief Building Official Jim Willumet has given the City notice as he would <br />be moving to Colorado.
