May 14, 2013 Page 5 of 5 Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen seconded by Councilmember Samuelson to direct Staff to pursue a crossing of Old Highway 8 near the Dairy Queen. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried Gina Bauman Councilmember Bauman commented the Cable Commission met recently and contract negotiations continue. She noted the rates were also discussed along with the DTA fees. She proudly announced that four New Brighton students were awarded scholarships this year. She noted the Public Safety Commission would meet again on Monday, June 24th where DUI enforcement would be discussed. It was noted the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner would be held on Sunday, May 19th at 5:00 p.m. She noted this week was Police Memorial Week and the Public Safety Department would be participating in a memorial service on Thursday in Roseville. Mary Burg Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission would meet again on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Char Samuelson Councilmember Samuelson reported the Park and Recreation held a Public Forum at their last meeting to discuss parks. She indicated the conversation at the forum centered around ball fields along with lighting. She noted Dairy Queen would be donating 10% of all purchases made on May 23`d, June 27th, July 25th, and August 22nd, and September 26th to a scholarship fund. Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC would be meeting on May 22nd at 7:00 a.m. Mayor Jacobsen Mayor Jacobsen reported he attended the Minnesota Mayors Conference in Moorhead this year. He noted the Chief Building Official Jim Willumet has given the City notice as he would be moving to Colorado. He wished him well on behalf of the City.
