gwo city of <br /> "ANEW <br /> BRICK I'PON <br /> the city that works for you <br /> Council Worksession <br /> May 7, 2013 <br /> 5:00 pm <br /> Present: Mayor Dave Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Char Samuelson <br /> Absent: <br /> Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter <br /> Guests in Attendance:Craig Rapp <br /> Manager Lotter stated that Craig Rapp will be introducing a new format for the City Manager's review, noting <br /> that it will be in alignment with the job description. <br /> It was shared that Manager Lotter met with Craig Rapp, the Senior Management Team, along with Supervisory <br /> Staff on May 6th in order to address the work plan. <br /> Manager Lotter reported he recently met with the Mayor to follow on the recent meeting the Council had with <br /> Craig Rapp. The primary follow-up items are: <br /> • Feedback from City Manager on Performance Review. <br /> • The completion of an implementation plan regarding the key performance indicators. <br /> • Agenda managing issues. <br /> Manager Lotter reported that Johnson Controls has submitted an estimate to the City to conduct an energy <br /> efficiency study, stating he could have Johnson Controls come to a worksession to review the findings. <br /> Councilmember Burg suggested finding another Company for comparison purposes. <br /> Manager Lotter asked for council direction regarding Urban Farming. The Council agreed they will discuss the <br /> workplan at the June 4th worksession, and discuss Urban Farming at the June l lth worksession. <br /> Craig Rapp distributed a Performance Review Template to the Council, along with the current Job Description <br /> for the City Manager. Rapp suggested the council add the strategic priorities as well as the key performance <br /> indicators to the template. It was suggested that the evaluation reflect the workplan. The council discussed at <br /> length the various competences to include in the evaluation process. <br /> Manager Lotter gave a brief recap of the recent strategic planning session with Craig Rapp and the Senior <br /> Management Team & Supervisors. It was reported this was a positive exercise. <br /> The council discussed scheduling a budget retreat; possibly in August. <br /> Manager Lotter stated that he didn't feel it was necessary to provide responses to his recent performance <br /> review, as the Council's aggregate review score was the same of Manager Lotter's Self Evaluation. <br />
