Report Number 13-166 <br /> p <br /> HTON Agenda Section VI-13 <br /> the city that works for you Council Meeting Date July 9,2013 <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDERATION OF PARTIAL PAYMENT 1 FOR <br /> PROJECT 13-2C, MILL & OVERLAY. <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: (v,Hw <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL. <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: To approve contract Partial Payment 1 for City Project 13-2C, Mill and <br /> Overlay to the North Valley, Inc., in the amount of$414,130.75. <br /> Legislative History: Council approved Plans and Specifications April 9, 2013 <br /> Bids opened by Staff May 8, 2013 <br /> Contract Awarded May 14, 2013 <br /> Financial Impact: Please see attached payment breakdown for details. <br /> Explanation: The City Council authorized the emergency repair/replacement of surfacing on 3.8 <br /> miles of streets located in the Project 13-2C corridor. The surfacing of these streets was failing <br /> due to pavement stripping, and the roads required repair before the entire pavement surface was <br /> lost. The roads in the project corridor were reconstructed in 1994 and scheduled to be <br /> reconstructed in 2024. We are planning on repairing these streets with an emergency mill and <br /> overlay to extend the pavement life. <br /> Costs and Funding: All work at the skate park will be paid from Fund 606. All work <br /> associated with the mill and overlay will be funded from Fund 422. <br /> The provisions of the contract with North Valley, Inc. stipulate that the City makes a partial <br /> payment to the contractor at least once each month at regular intervals on the basis of the work <br /> performed during that preceding month. This partial payment shall not exceed 95 percent of the <br /> value of the certified estimate.
