.June 11, 2013 Page 1 of 7 Ky ow"k 0 c Of PI COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS the, (.Icy glut works for you THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Present: Mayor Jacobsen, Councilmembers Bauman, Samuelson, Jacobsen and Burg Absent: Also Present: Dean Lotter -City Manager, Bob Jacobson - Director of Public Safety, Grant Fernelius- Director of Community Development, Jason West- Assistance Parks and Recreation Director; and Jason Hicks - Facilities Manager at the Community Center Call to Order Call to order Mayor Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Public Comment Forum Mayor Jacobsen opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. Courtney Morton, 715 Forestdale Road, discussed the happenings at the urban farm noting she recently held a workshop on chickens and would be having a plant sale in the near future. She then provided the Council with a copy of the Urban Farm newsletter. Joy Root, 8566 Glenview Avenue in Cottage Grove, noted she was chosen to work at Lost Boy Acres and recently attended the Chicken 101 workshop. She explained the workshop was a joy to attend. Sue Goot, 715 Forestdale Road, commented she was with the Lost Boy Acres and then discussed the exchange program that has been established with the Girl Scouts of America and 4H. Ms. Goot then reviewed the additional educational opportunities available regarding urban farming. Kristie Kellis, 715 Forestdale Road, indicated she was the main chicken keeper at Lost Boy Acres. She stated the work at the farm has been highly successful this year. Council Agenda Approval of the June 11, 2013 Council Agenda.
