The purpose of this tower is to provide higher pressure for the areas around Wexford
Heights, Seminary Estates, and other nearby streets. This tower was built in 1992.
The High Service Tower repairs include a fair amount of steel work as specified (i.e. seal welding, tank
repairs, additional access hatches, and updated safety ladders). To prevent ice buildup within the storage
reservoir (which can damage the coatings and structural integrity), staff and our consultant, recommended
the installation of an internal mixer. The reconditioning of the tower is expected to be complete in July,
2013.
Costs and Funding: This project will be funded from the Water Improvement Fund(Fund 400).
The provisions of the contract with Champion Coatings, Inc. stipulate that the City makes a partial payment
to the contractor at least once each month at regular intervals on the basis of the work performed during that
preceding month. This partial payment shall not exceed 95 percent of the value of the certified estimate.
Grant . Wyffels,P.E.
Director of Public Works
Attachments: Bolton&Menk, Inc.
