August 13,2013 Page 4 of 5 <br /> Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen,seconded by Councilmember Samuelson to adopt a Resolution <br /> approving the Special Use Permit subject to conditions,and to authorize the City Manager and <br /> Mayor to enter into a Tower Lease Agreement between the City of New Brighton and New Cingular <br /> Wireless PC,LLC(AT&T),as approved by the City Attorney for the water tower site located at 660 <br /> 5th Street SW. <br /> 5 Ayes,0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> Commission Liaison <br /> Commission Liaison Reports,Announcements and Updates Reports. <br /> Announcements and <br /> Dean Lotter Updates <br /> City Manager Lotter reported the 2014 preliminary budget would be presented to the Council <br /> at the August 20th work session meeting. He indicated Congresswoman McCullom met with <br /> City officials and toured the water treatment facility last week. He explained she fully <br /> supported the City and was well positioned to assist the City. He commented Subway should <br /> be open by the end of the summer in the Community Center. He then discussed the complaints <br /> received regarding rail traffic through the City of New Brighton. He indicated rail engineers <br /> were required to whistle at intersections unless the City was to create a whistle free zone. <br /> Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Bauman reported the Public Safety Commission would meet again on <br /> September 30th. She commented National Night Out was a huge success in New Brighton with <br /> 145 parties. She indicated 3,200 pounds of food and 2,000 pounds of school supplies were <br /> gathered at the events. She thanked the City for their involvement in this community event and <br /> for their generosity. She thanked Officer Vollar for his assistance with planning a new <br /> neighborhood party this year, as it turned out to be a huge success. She stated the Public <br /> Safety Department was seeking firefighters at this time and the deadline for applications was <br /> August 20th. <br /> Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Samuelson reported the Park and Recreation Commission did not meet in <br /> August. She commented Stockyard Days was a great event this year. She thanked all <br /> volunteers who worked diligently to pull off the wonderful event. <br /> Paul Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen congratulated the new royalty who were crowned at the Mounds <br /> View High School last night. He commended the outgoing royalty for representing the City so <br /> well over the past year. He thanked all volunteers and the Stockyard Days Board for making <br /> this year's event a huge success. He noted the EDC would be meeting on Wednesday, August <br /> 21st at 7:30 a.m. He appreciated the hospitality that was shown to him while he visited various <br /> National Night Out parties. <br /> Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Burg reported Stockyard Days was a fun event for the entire community. She <br /> encouraged residents to volunteer to assist in the planning of next years' event. She thanked <br /> all public safety members and residents for hosting National Night Out parties. She indicated <br /> the Planning Commission would meet again on August 20th <br />
