Approved <br /> MINUTES <br /> New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—June 18, 2013 <br /> 7:30 a.m. <br /> Members/Liaisons Present: Chair Paul Zisla, Commissioners Mike Murlowski, Linda Zelm, D.L. <br /> Beach, Kevin Peck, Al Potter, Bruce Knight and Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br /> Members/Liaisons Absent: Commissioner Vivian Neumann-Walker <br /> Staff Present: Grant Fernelius-Community Development Director, Katie Bruno-Office Assistant. <br /> Also Present: <br /> Call to Order <br /> Chairperson Zisla called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner Zelm to approve the minutes from the <br /> March 19, 2013 closed session meeting and the May 21, 2013 regular meeting. <br /> Approved 6-0 (Commissioner Peck was not present for the vote) <br /> Report from Council Liaison <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen reported that the Council has been spending significant time on both the Pulte <br /> and APi development agreements; both of which were recently approved. It was decided to start a Task <br /> Force to assist with Urban Farming inquiries. <br /> Nominate chair for 2013-2014 term <br /> Chairperson Zisla stated that he occasionally has a conflict on Tuesday mornings, and requested the <br /> commissions' input on changing the meeting day. It was decided that the third Wednesday of each <br /> month would work for the group. <br /> Motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner Beach to nominate Paul Zisla to serve as <br /> Chairperson through March 31, 2014. <br /> Approved 7-0 <br /> New Brighton Exchange <br /> Update on Pulte Homes and API Group projects (Informational) <br /> Director Fernelius shared a couple of points worth noting about the final agreement. Initially a two <br /> phase closing was anticipated, it was decided that the City will receive the net purchase price ($1.3M) at <br /> closing. The parties will still escrow an additional $1.0M at closing for any remaining environmental <br /> contamination or fill soils. Fernelius reported that Pulte has begun soil testing. Pulte has 120 days to <br /> conduct due diligence work. The closing date is scheduled for October 15th. The company has indicated <br /> they would like to close sooner. During the due diligence phase the company will also seek various <br /> governmental approvals, including land use/zoning review from the City and environmental assurances <br /> from the MPCA. They are hoping to have a home or two ready for the Spring Preview (March 2014.) <br />
