March 19, 2013 EDC Meeting <br /> Agenda Notes <br /> Page 2 <br /> scheduled for March 20th to review the City's initial offer. Staff will provide more information <br /> at the meeting on Tuesday. <br /> B. Update on Pulte Homes discussions (Possible Closed Discussion) <br /> The City provided a counter-offer to Pulte's purchase agreement/term sheet in early February. <br /> A telephone conference occurred on March 15th to follow-up on the negotiations. The parties <br /> made good progress on working through various deal points. The parties are very close on the <br /> economics of potential deal, however there some legal issues that need to be resolved. <br /> However, both sides are eager to keep working on the project and plan to exchange another <br /> set of agreements in the next couple of weeks. Staff will provide more information at the <br /> meeting on Tuesday. <br /> C. PREC Discussion on Park Planning <br /> The Parks, Recreation and Environment Commission(PREC)has been directed by the City <br /> Council to study the park needs in New Brighton Exchange, especially with regard to the so- <br /> called"North Park"on the former Northwest Refinery site. PREC has scheduled a public <br /> forum for Wednesday,May 1, 2013 (6:30 PM) at the New Brighton Community Center to <br /> receive input on park needs for New Brighton Exchange and the broader community. Among <br /> the topics that will be discussed is potential park/recreational uses that could be developed <br /> for this location. <br /> V. Other Topics <br /> A. Special recognition for Commissioner Marie Carrell; not seeking re-appointment. <br /> Marie Carrell informed staff that she plans to step down from the EDC this month. This <br /> meeting will be her last. The City wants to extend its sincere gratitude for her service on the <br /> commission and wishes her well. Thanks, Marie. <br /> B. Reappointment of Commissioner Mike Murlowski <br /> On March 26, 2013 the Council will consider appointments (or re-appointments) for the City's <br /> advisory commissions. Commissioner Mike Murlowski has applied for re-appointment and <br /> will be considered that evening. With the departure of Marie Carrell,the EDC will be left with <br /> 7 commissioners (2 vacancies). If the EDC is aware of civic-minded residents or business <br /> owners that might be interested in serving,please contact staff. <br />
