Goals, objectives, and action strategies to address the issues and concerns within the DWSMA; <br /> 5. A Plan evaluation strategy; and <br /> 6. A contingency strategy in the event of water system disruption. <br /> The goals of the Wellhead Protection Program: <br /> • Maintain or improve the water quality of the City's water supply <br /> • Work with the surrounding cities with the goal of protecting the source water aquifers <br /> • Provide information&promote activities that protect the aquifers used by the City <br /> • Collect data to support future Wellhead Protection work <br /> Our approved Wellhead Protection plan includes action items for protecting the source water aquifers <br /> within the DWSMA and covers the following categories: <br /> 1. Well management- Proper maintenance and sealing of private wells <br /> 2. Potential contaminant source properties - Most important action: continue to operate the <br /> PGACWTF <br /> 3. Public education - Quality of the City's drinking water & Awareness/understanding of Wellhead <br /> Protection Program <br /> 4. Land use management <br /> 5. Continued data collection - Geologic/hydrogeologic data & Periodically update potential <br /> contaminant source information <br /> Costs and Funding: The total project cost (Part 1 & Part 2) to complete the City's Wellhead Protection <br /> Plan was approximately $50,000. Going forward, the City can expect to spend $5,000-$10,000 annually <br /> on the implementation phase of this plan. The cost will be shared between Fund 206 - Army 20 year <br /> operation and maintenance and Fund 400 - Water Improvement. In addition, the MDH has a grant <br /> program to help with costs of Wellhead Protection Plan implementation <br /> Grant M.
