January 28, 2014 <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to accept the bids and <br />award a contract for City Project 144, Iron/Manganese Removal System Filter Rehabilitation — <br />WTP#1, to the lowest responsible bidder, Rice Lake Construction Group, in the amount of $649,960. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Bob Jacobsen <br />Acting City Manager Jacobson explained the City has had a stretch of extremely cold weather. <br />He was pleased with staff s response to the road conditions and emergencies that have <br />occurred during the poor weather. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the Public Safety Commission did not meet in January, but <br />would meet again on February 24, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. The <br />crosswalk study would be discussed. She reviewed the preliminary crime report from 2013 <br />with the Council. She encouraged residents to drive safely in the snowy conditions. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported that the EDC did not meet in January. He explained he <br />attended the Planning Commission meeting last week where the group discussed the Verizon <br />Wireless antennas, which was approved by the Council on the Consent Agenda. He reported <br />he would be attending the League of Minnesota Cities Conference this weekend. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg thanked staff for their hard work and dedication to keeping the City <br />roads safe during the winter months. She encouraged those interested in serving the City to <br />volunteer for a Commission or Committee. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported he attended the I -35W Coalition meeting. The group discussed <br />a future MN Pass lane. He explained PREC would meet again on February 5, 2014. He <br />encouraged residents to participate in the 91h Annual Snowshoe Run on Long Lake on February <br />I Si <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported he received an invitation to an upcoming Irondale High School <br />robotics competition. He looked forward to attending this event. He discussed the upcoming <br />Library Gala, noting he would not be able to attend. He stated he applied for a position on the <br />National League of Cities for a Commission on environmental energy.
