City of New Brighton Police Civil Service Commission <br />Commission Meeting Minutes <br />June 19th, 2013 <br />Attending: Commissioner Kerns, Commissioner Ketola, Commissioner Kraus, Assistant to the <br />City Manager Johnson, Director Jacobson <br />Roll Call/Call to Order: <br />At 5:32 pm on June 19th, 2013 the Police Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order <br />by the Chair, Commissioner Ketola. <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Commissioner Kerns motioned and was seconded by Commissioner Kraus to accept and approve <br />the minutes from the previous meeting of February 13, 2013. The motion was approved. <br />Review and Approval of Hiring Process for Police Officer position <br />Director Jacobson and Assistant to the City Manager Schawn Johnson gave an overview of <br />personnel issues in the Police Division including a termination of an Officer in field training and <br />the potential for a retirement in the near future. They also gave an overview of the proposed <br />process to establish an eligibility list for hiring a police officer with the goal of having a new <br />Officer hired in mid fall of 2013. Commissioner Kraus asked for and was given an overview of <br />our current Field Training Process for Police Officers and for the financial commitment of the <br />school district toward School Resource Officers. <br />Old Business <br />None <br />New Business <br />None. <br />Adiournment• <br />Commissioner Ketola seconded by Commissioner Kerns motioned to adjourn the meeting at <br />5:58 pm. The motion passed unanimously. <br />
