B WOf �,� Report Number 14 -078 IWJ T Agenda Section VI -2 the city that works for you Council Meeting Date April 22, 2014 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION ITEM DESCRIPTION: Authorize Mowing Contract with Village Green Landscapes DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: No comments to supplement this Recommendation: To authorize a mowing contract with Vil of-way areas (11) and well houses /water Sandy Breuer, Director of Parksland Re-creation (3). Comments attached Landscapes for mowing of selected parks (8), right- Legislative History: At the November 14, 2012 work session Council directed staff to include funding for contracted mowing and snowplowing in the 2013 budget. In April 2013 the contract was reviewed by the City Attorney and Council authorized the mowing contract with Village Green Landscapes. Village Green was utilized for the 2013 mowing season. In March of 2014 staff contacted Village Green Landscapes and Horticulture Services to bid again on the mowing, Horticulture Services decided not to submit a bid. Staff would recommend continuing with Village Green due to the exceptional job they performed in 2013. Financial Impact: Quotes for the identified 8 parks, 11 right -of -ways and 3 well houses /water towers: Contractor :7::]=Mowinr, Costs Contract Period Village Green Landscapes 1 $50,754.41* 7 month contract 5/1/14 - 11/30/14 *Tax exempt for 2014 due to recent legislation. Explanation: The attached mowing contract specifies the terms and conditions, the locations of the areas to be mowed and the associated payments for the 2014 season. Costs and Funding: Cost for mowing services will be $50,754.41.
