RESOLUTION NO.
14-033
STATE OF MINNESOTA
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
RESOLUTION ORDERING THE INSTALLATION OF NEW BRIGHTON COMMUNITY
CENTER (NBCC) SIGNAGE AT THE ENTRANCE AND AROUND THE CAMPUS.
WHEREAS, at the March 13, 2014 Sunny Square Neighborhood Meeting, staff was directed to review
the NBCC entrance and recommend any suggested improvements to make the entrance safer and less
confusing to motorized vehicles; and,
WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the NBCC entrance drop-off circle area and prepared two low cost
options related to additional signage/striping near the drop-off circle.
o In Option 1, we yield the traffic exiting the site before they enter the traffic circle area. Incoming
and oncoming traffic will be given the right-of-way.
o In Option 2, all traffic will be routed around the traffic circle. This proposed striping and signage
is consistent with a "mini -roundabout" design.
Parks and Recreation and Engineering staff have reviewed both options and strongly support Option 1.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of New Brighton hereby
orders the installation of the following signage:
1. Adding yield signs on the west and east legs of the New Brighton Community Center (NBCC)
Entrance Drop -Off Area.
2. Adding signage for the marked crosswalks.
3. Adding a directional sign near the flagpole to point people in the direction of the library book
drop.
4. Placing "No Parking" signs near the pedestrian bridge crossing. The parking lot is painted for no
parking; however, when covered with snow, people park in front of the bridge.
5. Placing "No Parking" signage along the west entrance of the NBCC. The lot is painted, but when
covered with snow, people park directly in front of the west entrance.
Adopted this 13th day of May, 2014.
ATTEST:
bsen, Mayor
0/e►- 14
K en Halley, Deputy City Cle Dean Lott r, C' y Manager
(SEAL)
