Acceptance ofthe <br />City M anag er Lotter explained Recreation Su pervisor Sedlacek would be presenting this item to Council. <br />To Driver safety <br />Top 100 Ho sts Award. <br />Recreation Supervisor Sedlacek stated for many years, the New Brighton Community Center has been host <br />ReportNo.14 -170. <br />to the AARP Driver Safety courses. Both eight -hour introductory courses and four -hour refresher courses are <br />offered throughout the year and at various times of the day. AARP volunteers work with more than 18,000 <br />local community organizations to offer more than 30,000 AARP driver safety courses nationwide every year. <br />To recognize the host organizations, AARP developed the Top 100 Hosts award. AARP Driver Safety's <br />Top 100 Hosts are recognized based on the following criteria. Of the thousands of organizations that held a <br />course in 2013, AARP selected the hosts that reached the largest number of participants and the highest <br />number of courses. Using these criteria, it allowed AARP to recognize tremendously supportive hosts, not <br />necessarily located in as densely populated areas. It was noted the New Brighton Community Center was <br />ranked number 15. Staff recommended the Council accept the 2013 AARP Driver Safety's Top 100 Hosts <br />Award Commemorative Plaque. <br />Sherwin Singsaas, District Coordinator with AARP Driver Safety, presented the City with the 2013 AARP <br />Driver Safety's Top 100 Hosts Award Commemorative Plaque.
