Report <br />No. 14-156. <br />Acting City Manager Jacobson e¡plained Parla and Recreation Director Breuer would be presenting this <br />iæmtotlre Council. <br />Pæks and Recreation Director Breuer stated Jr.rly was Parls and Recreation month in the City ofNew <br />Brighton. She discussed the outdoor celebrations and fee activitiæ planned throughout the commrnrity and <br />encouraged residents to get involved. It wa^s noted the IT departnent has ¡vo staffmsmb€rs that monitor 160 <br />computøs, 30 printers, 70 cell phones, 19 iPads, 25 virtual serve,ïs with 13 terabytes ofdata and an intemal <br />network backup rystem. The IT departnent also ananges for the broadcast of Council and Planning <br />Commission meetings. He reviewed how the City's computer systems would be tpgraded to Windows 7. <br />He described how virtual [,41.{'s have been created to improve security within the City's comprfer systems. <br />The changeover and functions ofthe Mitel phone system wene discussed" The 2014 goals were reviewed in <br />detail with the Cornrcil. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the IT departnent for their efforts. He questioned if the IT departnent had <br />any major issues that would need to be addresed in the next year or two. IT Adminishafor Barte anticipated <br />thatthe Finance Departnent's software wouldneedto be upgmded inthe nextyear,'¡¡hichwould impactthe <br />City's financial operations. <br />Councilmember Bwg appreciatedthe presentation andtlre continued effciencies thatthe IT deparlrnent <br />strivesto achieve. <br />CouncilmemberBzuman appreciatedthe cost savings the IT deparhnenthad crcatd andwas also impressod <br />by tlre increased sectuity that has been cre¿ted. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
