August 13, 2014 Page 5 of fi <br />Announcements and <br />Dean Lotter updates <br />City Manager Lotter reported the litigation team would be going back into court on August <br />22 "d. Staff would be speaking with the Council regarding the settlement discussions to ensure <br />staff was representing the City's best interests. He indicated the Council would be discussing <br />the 2015 budget in September. <br />Mary Bury <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Public Safety Commission did not meet in August. She <br />stated their next meeting would be on Monday, September 291° at the Public Safety building. <br />She thanked the Public Services Department for providing a presence at the recent funeral of <br />Officer Patrick of the Mendota Heights Police Department. She sent her condolences to the <br />Patrick family, She then discussed the success of National Night Out stating the City had 138 <br />parties where the Public Services Department was able to collect 5,400 pounds of school <br />supplies and food shelf items. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC would not meet in August. He stated the next <br />EDC meeting would be held on September 17th at 7:30 a.m. He provided comment on the <br />success of Stockyard Days and National Night Out. He welcomed a Rotary foreign Exchange <br />Student from Italy. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Stru'b discussed the events he attended on National Night Out and explained <br />he was extremely proud of the community. He indicated Dairy Queen would provide 10 % of <br />its receipts to the Parks and Recreation Scholarship fund on August 19th from 10:00 a.m. to <br />10:00 p.m. He encouraged the public and City officials to participate in the Shawn. Silvery <br />Memorial 5K on Saturday, August 23rd at Long Lake Park. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Acting Mayor Bauman thanked the community for their involvement in Stockyard Days and <br />National Night Out. She had a great time meeting new families with children that have moved <br />into the City of New Brighton. She provided an update on the Cable Commission. She <br />expressed concern with the contentious actions of Shoreview and how they had proposed to <br />change the Cable Commission representation. She then discussed the changes proposed for <br />public access channels. <br />City Manager Lotter further addressed the discussions held by the Cable Commission. He <br />reported that while Shoreview proposed changing the makeup and representation of the body, <br />the other nine member cities were not in agreement. He commented the Cable Commission <br />would be facing a new financial reality, which would impact the services provided. <br />Acting Mayor Bauman stated she would continue to keep the public apprised on the Cable <br />Commission's discussions and urged the public to contact her with any questions or comments. <br />Adiournment <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilinember Burg to adjourn the <br />meeting. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried, <br />Meeting adjourned at 7A7 p.m. <br />Adiournment <br />Ilse meeting adjourned <br />at 7:47 p.m. <br />
