Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this re ort Comments attached <br />Recommendation: <br />Accept the donation of $1,009.00, 5036 pounds of food, and 1,514 pounds of school supplies and <br />transfer that donation to the Mounds View School District. <br />Legislative History: <br />None <br />Financial Impact: <br />None <br />Explanation: <br />On Tuesday, August 5th 2014 the City of New Brighton coordinated National Night Out <br />activities throughout the community to celebrate the community coming together to make the <br />community stronger. As a part of the National Night Out efforts the Public Safety Department <br />asked residents to donate food and school supplies in an effort to ensure that all children in the <br />City have the tools necessary to be successful in school. As a result of the tremendous <br />outpouring of generosity throughout the City 5,036 pounds of food, 1,514 pounds of schools <br />supplies, and $1,009.00 were collected. The donations have assisted over 800 students so far this <br />year. To ensure proper transfer of the donations to the Mounds View School District we are <br />asking the City to formally accept the donations and formally transfer them to the Mounds View <br />School District. <br />Trevor Hamdorf <br />Crime Prevention Officer <br />
