Hidden Oaks: Frischman. Looks good. The playground looks awesome.
Field was wet. Vehicle created some tire divots on the south side of the
asphalt.
Innsbruck: Kunesh - Podein. It is fine.
Silver Oaks: Kunesh Podein also reported on this park. Railroad ties
used as boarder are deteriorating and need to be replaced. Some
removed, but have not been replaced. The City typically does not use the
boarders unless they are needed. Weeds are in the playground area. The
City does not like to spray here; vinegar (20 %) has been used on weeds.
Meadow Wood: Eischen. No report.
Silver Oaks: Lundberg. Absent.
Sunny Square/Veterans: CM Liaison Strub. Sunny Square:The crab
trees by neighborhood center do not look very healthy. Parks
Superintendent Chris Wolla stated it is apple scab causing this. They will
come back in the spring. A neighbor reported to Council Liaison Strub that
there have been some shady characters in the evening (both at Sunny
Square and Hansen). He would like this info to be shared with the Public
Safety Department. Veterans: looks good. Ball field is green and looks
good.
Totem Pole: Jones. No report.
Vermont: Cook. Absent.
D. Department Happenings / upcoming events
Director Breuer listed some highlights
• Staff entered into a contract with Rochon Corporation to renovate
the restrooms and locker rooms at the NBCC. The project is
scheduled to start around September 22 "d. Construction to be
completed in February or March of 2015. The project will be
phased. Family style restrooms and personal needs room in what is
now the women's locker room. There will be additional lobby space
and seating area. Renovate and relocate current restrooms and
locker rooms. Women's locker rooms will move to the stage area
(in the gymnasium). Men's locker room will stay in the existing
space but expanded. We will have restrooms open for guests
during the renovation. The stage area will be demolished first. Once
completed, the women will move into the new locker room and the
men will be moved to the current women's locker room while the
men's locker room is renovated. We will be keeping guests
informed and updated on the construction timelines and details.
There will be disruption. Demolition of stage will be loud. Do our
best to minimize noise and dust. Jason Hicks is spearheading this
project along with our new Facilities Manager, Bill Bach.
