Create an on-road bike route through the neighborhood on the west side of Pike Lake <br /> such that residents can connect to existing trail connections to Long Lake Regional Park. <br /> 4. Create trail loop around Jones Lake. <br /> 5. Create trail connection from Co.Rd.E to 7th St.through Hansen Park. <br /> 6. Create on-road bike route on 16th Street to link to Springbrook Nature Center and Moore <br /> Lake Beach.Coordinate with Fridley's trail plans. <br /> 7. Consider sidewalks/trails on both sides of high traffic roadways (Silver Lake Road, Old <br /> Hwy 8,Co.Rd.E, 10th St.NW,etc.)to increase safety and reduce need to cross road. <br /> 8. Consider changing high use concrete sidewalks into wider multi-use bituminous trails to <br /> accommodate pedestrian and bicyclists and to get bicyclists off dangerous high traffic <br /> roadways,especially along Silver Lake Road. <br /> 9. Create on-road bike lanes through striping and signing on roadway shoulders along Silver <br /> Lake Road,7th Street,Rice Creek Road and Long Lake Road. <br /> 10. Plan with adjacent cities to create a regional trail connection south to the Minneapolis <br /> Grand Rounds Park System. This regional connection has the potential to connect the <br /> Ramsey County Rice Creek Regional Trail system through New Brighton and St. <br /> Anthony to the Minneapolis Parkway Trail system for a large regional trail loop passing <br /> through the heart of New Brighton. <br /> Trails Committee Action Strategies: <br /> • Priorities for New Brighton roads: <br /> o Create a comprehensive signage plan for trails and parks consistent with the <br /> communities surrounding New Brighton <br /> o Construct a sidewalk on north side of loth street to the Family Service Center from <br /> the intersection of Old HWY 8 and 10th St NW <br /> o Increase promotion of parks and trail assets on the city website <br /> o Construct a sidewalk on the east side of Long Lake Rd from Rice Creek trail to <br /> Irondale High School <br /> o Construct a barrier between traffic and the sidewalk on Old HWY 8 bridge over I- <br /> 694 <br /> o Create a trail moving north-south adjacent to the rail line <br /> o Widen the sidewalk on Silver Lake Rd south of I-694 <br /> o Work in cooperation with surrounding communities to create connection between <br /> New Brighton and the Northstar Commuter line <br /> • Priorities for Ramsey County roads <br /> o Construct,multi-use trail crossings over 135W at HWY 96,,19;St.NW and Cty Rd -.,,_ {Deletes: a <br /> E2. ;These are premier gateway crossings connecting east and west.
