We are home to more than 22,000 residents, over 400 businesses,4 <br /> schools,22 churches,4 parks, 2 major business corridors and several commercial nodes, <br /> the Mississippi River Gorge,Midtown Greenway and the Minnehaha Falls Park. <br /> Longfellow Community Council's mission is to improve the quality of life and develop a <br /> sense of community among the Longfellow, Cooper, Howe and Hiawatha neighborhoods <br /> and promote their well being. The Longfellow Community Council will involve and <br /> empower the member of the community in all its diversity to take action on issues <br /> affecting their lives. <br /> Volunteers of America has had a presence on East Lake Street for over 40 years. The <br /> building houses over 60 residents and provides transitional housing and services for men <br /> who have been convicted of felonies. Volunteers of America is a quiet neighbor, <br /> successfully integrating themselves into the neighborhood and is a vital part of our <br /> community. <br /> Longfellow is a stronger neighborhood because of VOA's work in the community. <br /> Longfellow Community Council supports VOA in its planning and development of <br /> additional facilities throughout the metro and beyond.
