Barley John's Brewpub Solar Electric Array
Parking
The gross area of the pub is 1400 square feet, and the outdoor patio seating is
1640 square feet. The required quantity of parking for the pub and patio together is 55
stalls. The available parking quantity is approximately 27 stalls plus an un-striped
overflow parking area large enough for 5 cars. If the Brewpub area were considered
alone, then the required parking quantity is 26 stalls. This approach is appropriate in the
cold weather months when the outdoor seating is not used, and in good weather the patio
is very popular and much of the inside seating is not used. The pub owner also
encourages alternative transportation access to the pub to limit parking demand and the
environmental impact of automobile use. Barley John's has been voted best bicycle
friendly pub/restaurant by City Pages more than once, and has hosted the All British
Cycling Event eight years in a row, an event that attracts 100+bicycling enthusiasts from
the local area, other states and overseas. The ABCE group meets at the pub once each
month and ride their bikes when possible.
During the eight years that Barley John's Brewpub has been operating, the
amount of parking has proven to be adequate, and the proposed project does not change
existing parking quantities. The parking lot will be re-striped as part of this project to
comply with zoning requirements and to provide a safe and organized parking lot.
Page 5
