October 14, 2014 Page 3 of 4 <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the Consent <br />Agenda as presented. <br />Councilmember Bauman invited the applicants present requesting a solicitor's license to address the Council. <br />Brandon, a representative from Curbside Waste, introduced himself to the Council. He explained he ran a <br />local business out of Crystal and looked forward to working in New Brighton. <br />Dr. Maurine Hyde, YOUmque Health & Chiropractic, introduced herself to the Council and discussed the <br />chiropractic services she would be offering the community at 151 and Silver Lake Road <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />Public Hearing <br />None. <br />Council Business <br />None. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported Public Safety Director Jacobson recently ran his 25th marathon. <br />He commended him on this accomplishment. He explained the union contract negotiations <br />would begin next week. He commented he would be attending a North Metro Mayor's <br />meeting on October 22nd. He stated that hydrants would be flushed throughout the City over <br />the coming weeks. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman provided the Council with an update on the Cable Commission. She <br />explained a two -year extension has been approved by all parties (Shoreview has abstained). It <br />was noted the formal negotiation process has ceased and negotiations will continue with <br />Greatland Communication in 2015. She reported the Cable Commission continues to discuss <br />the group's finances, along with possible revenue streams. She was pleased with the direction <br />the Cable Commission was moving. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg congratulated Director Jacobson on his accomplishment and for his <br />incredible leadership. She listed the other members of the Public Safety members that ran in <br />the 33rd Annual Twin Cities Marathon. She noted the Annual Fire Division Open House will <br />held on Monday, October 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. She stated the Public Safety <br />Commission meeting has been canceled for October. The group would meet again on <br />November 24th. The public was invited to take part in the Taste of Northeast fundraiser for <br />Northeast Youth and Family Services. The event would be held on October 22nd from 5:30 to <br />8:30 p.m. at Vadnais Commons. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC would be meeting on October 15th at 7:30 a.m. and <br />would be meeting with representatives with Ryan and Colliers.
