Jacobson, Director of Public Safety CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: No comments to supplement this repo/// Comments attached Recommendation: Recommend that Council direct the Public Safety Commission to review and provide recommendations on amending parking regulations on Poppyseed Drive. Legislative History: The Public Safety Commission in its advisory role provides a mechanism for citizen review and advice on numerous issues including traffic safety and parking regulations. Explanation: New Brighton Dept. of Public Safety received an e -mail from a New Brighton resident on September 6, 2014 that included a concern regarding parking on Poppyseed Drive during Irondale High School home football games. The resident indicated that with motorists parking on both sides of the street that the roadway narrowed to such an extent to make it difficult for an emergency vehicle such as a fire truck and /or ambulance to pass through. Sgt. Singer and Acting Sgt. Krebsbach spoke with the resident and monitored the parking issue during Irondale High School football home games. It was noted that there is room for only one vehicle to pass through on Poppyseed Drive when cars are parked on both sides of Poppyseed Drive and further that emergency vehicles including fire trucks and ambulances would have difficulty maneuvering through that street.
