di_ -a NEW lh Wo PROCLAMATION the eih Ihal «oils for irai WHEREAS Contributions made to the United States ofAmerica by the men and women who have served and continue to serve in this nation's armed services defending the freedoms we enjoy are too great to be calculated; and WHEREAS The cost of their service frequently includes long separations from family, the horrors of combat, physical and emotional injury, and for some, the ultimate price, their lives; and WHEREAS November 11, 2014 is Veteran's Day, a time for all Americans to pause, remember, and offer gratitude for the sacrifices of those who served and returned; those who served and gave their lives; those who were prisoners of war (POW); as well as those who are missing in action (ML4), and their families; and WHEREAS The POW /MIA flag symbolizes the nation's remembrance of those who were imprisoned while serving in conflicts and those who remain missing; and WHEREAS The citizens of the City of New Brighton Minnesota, and citizens all across the United States, herby honor the heroes we have lost and rededicate ourselves to the next generation of veterans by supporting our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen and women as they return home from duty; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of New Brighton accepts this gift from the Tri -City American Legion of a new MIA /POW flag to display proudly and permanently in the New Brighton city council chambers to the right of the United States flag; and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of New Brighton recognizes and gratefully thanks all veterans for their service to America and to this community, especially those members of the VFW Post 724, Tri -City American Legion Post 513, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion.
