Consideration of Resolution Awarding the Sale of$1 8,325,000 General Obligation Tax <br />Increment Refunding Bonds, Series 2015B. <br />City Manager Lotter indicated Mark Ruff of EWers & Associates would be presenting this item to the <br />Council. <br />Mark Ruff, Ehlers & Associates, explained that the interes t rate came in lower than expected and requestoo <br />the Council consider the issuance of$17 ,385,000 in General Obligation Improvement Bonds fo r the <br />refunding ofTIF bonds. He explained that with the lower interest rate, the City would be saving $2.6 million <br />through the refinancing of these bonds or $175,000 per year through the life of the bonds. He recommended <br />the Council approve the refimding of the general ob ligati on tax increment bonds. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to adopt a Resolution <br />Awarding the Sale of $17,385,000 General Obligation Tax Increment Refunding Bonds, Series 2015B, <br />Fixing their fo rm and specifications; directing their execution and delivery; and providing fo r their <br />payment <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Repo rts, Annou ncements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter repo11ed he was invited to speak at a panel fo r Greater MSP at the Fosbay <br />Building on Friday February 2 ih . He discussed the business professionals that wou ld be on <br />hand at the event. He understood the Council was interested in holding a Council meeting <br />offsite. He believed this would occur in April or May. He indicated the Town Hall meeting <br />would be held on May 2 nd• It was noted the communi ty survey had been distributed. He <br />commented that a staff survey was also taken and 87 responses were received. The results <br />from the surveys would be shared with Council at a future meeting. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman stated the Planning Commission tabled action on the Belair <br />Excavating item at their recent meeting. She noted she attended the helicopter demonstrati on <br />last Friday. She noted that APi was considering a heli-pad and noted it would only be needed <br />five or six times a year. She indicated she recently toured one of the Pulte Homes and was <br />impressed with how this development was turning out. She explained the Cable Commission <br />was discussing its finances at this time. <br />Mary B u rg <br />Councilmember Burg reported she would be attendjng a NYFS meeting this Thursday. She <br />stated the Publ ic Safe ty Commi ssion met on February 23rd . She noted Deputy Chief Hamdorf <br />discussed the potential purchase of a fire truck. She stated two daytime burglaries occurred in <br />recent weeks. She encouraged residents to contact 91 1 with any suspicious activity. She <br />commended Julie Forbord fo r her efforts on the City's new law enforcement management <br />system. <br />j Pa uJ Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported last Monday the Irondale Robotics team unveiled their new <br />robot. He explained the groups challenge fo r this year and wished them well at their meets. <br />He noted the EDC met on February 181h and discussed di fferent approaches to economic <br />development in the City. He indicated the EDC was looking fo rward to the joint meeting with <br />3.
