May 12, 2015 Page 1 of 13 <br />IWOf <br />N E COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />TIGFYCIYN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />the city that works for you <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday <br />May 12, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br />Present: Mayor Jacobsen, Councilmembers Bauman, Burg, Jacobsen and Strub <br />Absent: <br />Also Present: Dean Lotter -City Manager, Troy Gilchrest -City Attorney, Bob Jacobson - Director of <br />Public Safety, Janice Gundlach - Assistant Director of Community Assets & <br />Development/Planning Director, Joe Hatch -Code Enforcement Officer; Brenda Davitt- <br />Finance Director <br />Call to Order Call to order <br />Mayor Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br />Pledy'e of Alleljanre <br />Mayor Jacobsen led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Jacobsen opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br />Harold Kurtz, 1900 Rush Lake Trail, explained he and his wife have been New Brighton <br />residents for more than 38 years. He appreciated the City Council and staff's professionalism <br />and dedication to the City. He discussed the numerous improvements and amenities the City <br />had to offer its residents, and he was pleased with the new companies that were being located <br />within the New Brighton Exchange. He commended the Council and staff again for their <br />efforts. Mr. Kurtz believed the residents received a great value for its tax dollars. He <br />requested the Council reconsider their recent decision to allow Bel Air Excavating to expand <br />its business. He feared that this business with the new salt storage had the potential to pollute <br />Long Lake. He urged the Council to keep in mind what was best for the entire City and not just <br />for one business. <br />Ray Lucas, 1900 Rush Lake Trail, indicated there were 120 senior homes located on the east <br />shore of Rush Lake. He commented that the City was already dealing with pollutants in its <br />water supply. For this reason, he recommended that the City not allow further contaminants to <br />be brought into the City.
