August 25, 2015 <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported administration would be meeting with the Minnesota Police <br />Chief's Association as they are interested in renting the space available on the lower level of <br />City Hall. He was getting close to establishing a lease. He anticipated that the Council would <br />be reviewing this matter in September. The revenues received in rent would be used to assist <br />with renovating the lower level of City Hall. He indicated health insurance bids were received <br />by staff and rates came in more favorable than anticipated. He reminded the Council that on <br />Wednesday, September 91h the City would be meeting with the County. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, August 18th. He <br />appreciated the conversation held at the meeting. He noted the Shoreland Ordinance Open <br />House would be held at the Community Center on September 29th. <br />Marr Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the fall/winter brochure for the Park and Recreation Department <br />was now available. She encouraged residents to take advantage of the City's programs, along <br />with visiting the local golf course at a discounted rate. She stated the Coniniunity Center <br />would be closed September 7th through September 1 lth for maintenance. She indicated bare <br />root trees were available for boulevards through the City Forester. She explained the Thrive <br />Senior Expo would be held on Thursday, September 17th. It was noted the Park and Recreation <br />Commission would meet again on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:30 p.m. <br />I Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman provided an update from the Cable Commission. She noted HD <br />channels would be changing to the 800's. <br />Brian Strub <br />C ounci[member Strub reported the Public Safety Commission would hold its next meeting on <br />Monday, September 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. He appreciated the City's <br />involvement in National Night Out and was proud of the amount of school supplies and food <br />that were collected from New Brighton residents. He commented the Public Safety <br />Department was now taking applications for the Citizen's Academy. He explained there would <br />be a Red Cross Blood Drive on September 3rd at the Public Safety Center. <br />Mavor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen discussed a memorandum from the Federal National League of Cities.
