Ramsey County Sheriffs Update by Sheriff Bostrom <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Bostrom thanked the Council for their time. He p1 ovi ded an update on the activity <br />taking place at the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. He reported the County implemented a new <br />records management system in conjunction with the City ofNew Brighton. He commented the County <br />would be holding two community drug forums, one in Mounds View and another in North St. Paul. These <br />forums would provide an opportunity to discuss the national, regional and local trends with regard to drug <br />activity. It was noted the forums would be 90 minutes in length. It was the County's hope that the forums <br />would shed light on the subject in order to reduce drug use in the community. <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Bostrom encouraged all New Brighton residents to tum in their expired and unused <br />prescription drugs and opiates. He reported all items would be taken during business hours Monday through <br />Friday. He then discussed the improved electronic communications programming that have been enlisted by <br />the Sheriffs Department. He commented that behavior of those in custody has improved as they feel they are <br />being cared for. <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Bostrom encouraged all New Brighton residents to attend the Fright Farm at the <br />Ramsey County Fairgrounds. He reported the Fright Farm was open to the public every Friday and Saturday <br />during the month of October. Funds donated at this event were used to assist with the DARE program and <br />school resource officer expenses. <br />Councilmember Strub asked if the Fright Farm was appropriate for elementary aged children. Ramsey <br />County SheriffBostrom stated a special day was set aside for elementary aged children, as a low scare day. <br />He explained that the Fright Farm was geared towards children 10 and up. <br />Councilmember Strub looked forward to attending the forum at the Mounds View High School on October <br />296 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen appreciated the partnerships that the City had with the Ramsey County Sheriffs <br />office. Ramsey County Sheriff Bostrom discussed the great work that was being completed by the Police <br />Chief s in Ramsey County. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the Sheriffs Department for their work with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. <br />Councilmember Bauman shared her appreciation to those wearing a badge and the people behind it.
